Hal, try to find one at a dealership (or private party) and ride it. Then you will know for sure if it is the bike for you. Max 59, also retired, heavier and shorter than you, but I like the the ride and feel better than either of my brothers HD's (dyna wide glide and full dresser) and his wife's v-800 intruder. She started with a Savage and still has it so she is OK. Like Frank, I'm past the "need to speed" part of life. If the roads you ride are gravel rather than pavement, you have to depend in the gyro action of the tires to be comfortable. I have 0.3 miles of county maintained gravel road and zip right along on it now, but the first few trips were interesting to say the least.
